Gender Roles
Are learned behaviors in a given society of other social group
As social expectations comprising of behaviors and attitudes considered acceptable and
appropriate based in the assigned sex.
The term was coined by John William Money, a psychologist and an author.
Gender roles are focused on the concepts of feminity and masculinity.

Acquiring the basic needs to stay alive
Biological reality that only women give birth.

Refer to the rules and standards of behavior and practices often related to a person’s
reproductive capacity.
GENDER EQUALITY AND EQUITY
GENDER EQUALITY – equality between men and women, entails the concepts that all human
beings.
GENDER EQUITY – means fairness of treatment for women and men, according to their
respective needs
GENDER MAINSTREAMING
It is the process of assessing the implications for women and men of any planned action,
including legislation, policies or programmes, in all areas and at all levels.
The ultimate goal is to achieve gender equality.
