• 1 mm distal to hamular notches, 2 mm distal to fovea palatini
• Buccal and palatal sulcus  tissue reflection point
• = where mucosa begins to turn outward into the sulcus
• Avoid frenum (1 mm clearance)
Custom tray - lower
• Buccal sulcus
• Across the back of retromolar pad at right angles to the ridge
• 1 mm lateral to external oblique ridge
• Tissue reflection point
• Lingual sulcus
• Along mylohyoid ridge but should not include retromylohyoid fossa
• Tissue reflection point
