Mark 1:1-3

PREPARE FOR
THE COMING
OF THE LORD
Mark 1:1-3
The beginning of the good news about Jesus the
Messiah, the Son of God,
as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

“I will send my messenger ahead of you,

who will prepare your way”—
“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”
The Coming of the Lord

John the Baptist is the messenger

sent to prepare the way of the
coming King.
The coming King pronounced in
this prophecy is Jesus Christ.
HOW SHOULD
WE PREPARE FOR
THE COMING OF
THE LORD?
To prepare the
people in John’s
time, he urged them
to repent of their
sins and be
forgiven.
REPENTANC
E
(make straight paths
for him)
“MAKE STRAIGHT
PATHS”
IS A CALL TO TURN
AWAY FROM
WICKEDNESS
WE TURN AWAY
FROM WICKEDNESS
BY TURNING TO

REPENTANCE IS A
HUMAN
RESPONSIBILITY
THAT IS NECESSARY
FOR SALVATION
HAVE YOU
REPENTED OF YOUR
SIN?
1 JOHN 1:9
IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS,
HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST
AND WILL FORGIVE US
OUR SINS AND PURIFY US
FROM ALL
UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.
