IMO STATE STUDENTS’ PRESS ASSOCIATION

WHERE WE WERE, WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE WANT TO BE

INTRODUCTION
IMO STATE STUDENTS’ PRESS ALUMNI (ISSPA) was formerly known as
IMO POLY PRESS ALUMNI. Due to its increased capacity and its desire for
growth and expansion the association during its first ever inaugural
meeting and election held on the 26th February, 2017 at Ibariogwa
Entertainment Center, at Owerri, Imo State, where we unanimously
agreed to re-engineer or evolve into IMO STATE STUDENTS’ PRESS
ALUMNI (ISSPA) but our core focus is centered around e-marketing & e-
journalism. IMO STATE STUDENTS’ PRESS ALUMNI (ISSPA) was a campus
based student’s press association, publishing and fighting the ills in our
local institution with the use of our pen.
Where we were
In October 24th, 2009 Mr.
Godzwheel Uwajimgba became
the first Alumni President and
reigned for four years. During this
period, the criterion to joining the
Alumni body was muddy and this
led to the dearth in membership
which made it less formidable. In
the year 2014, there was a call for
an election which was led by Mr
Steve Offor and other aggrieved
members who didn’t like the way
the body was being run. This saw
the emergence of Mr Kingsley
Mgbeahuru as the president and
Mr Clever Uwajimgba as the PRO.
The fortune of the group
improved and new members were
welcomed
Where we are
In November 2016, there was a call for a fresh
election by majority of the members to seek for a new
direction of the association; a suggestion that was
brought up by Mr. Godzwill and keyed into by
everyone. This election saw the re-electing of Mr
Kingsley Mgbeahuru after a keenly contested election
which was more transparent and accepted by all. The
Vision of the leadership and members of ISSPA is to
have a forum that will be all encompassing and
illuminating to issues within and around our society.
It’s our desire to contribute our quota to the Society
in our capacity as professionals from diverse fields; we
want to use ISSPA as a vehicle in correcting the ills in
our Society and the World at large.

Finally, during the inaugural meeting held at Ibariogwa
as stated above; a total of 14 alumni members were
on ground which led to the renaissance we are now
experiencing and birthed the bigger, broader and
better ISSPA. Today, ISSPA has a constitution, a logo,
an association account, an anthem
