IMPORTANT COMPUTER TERMS
 Computer – is a programmable electronic device designed
to accept data, perform prescribed mathematical and logical
operations at high speed, and display the results of these
operations.
 Data – are facts in raw, unorganized form (such as
alphabets , numbers or symbols) that refer to or represent
conditions, ideas or objects. OR
 Symbols or signals that are input , stored and processed
by a computer for output as usable information.

IMPORTANT COMPUTER TERMS
 Information – is data that is accurate and timely, specific
and organized for a purpose, presented within context
that gives it meaning and relevance, and can lead to an
increase in understanding and decrease in uncertainty.
 Or Simply information is a collection of processed data
that is useful and meaningful to the user.

FUNCTIONS OF A COMPUTER
 Receiving Input – This function of a computer allows the
user to enter input data and control signals into the
computer using input devices such keyboard, mouse,
scanner, microphone, camera etc.
 Process data – The central processing Unit (CPU) ,
interprets and executes program instruction to process
information ,perform arithmetic calculations and make
logic base decisions.

FUNCTIONS OF A COMPUTER
 Produce Output - Output devices such as a monitor or
printer send information from the computer to the outside
world.
 Storing Information – Memory(RAM) holds data
temporarily for use by the CPU and secondary storage
devices, such as a hard drive, CD, DVD,or USB flash drives
store data for long term retrieval

IPO PRINCIPLE
 IPO stands for Input – Processing – Output model, and
defines the key principles of data processing.
 In each computer the principle is thus used.
 The data is entered using various devices in the computer
and recognized a next by software and processed.
 The output of the data takes place via the common output
devices of the computer.

IPO PRINCIPLE
1. First you enter the data with a keyboard, mouse or other
input device to the computer. For this purpose any type of
data suitable and these can reach, for example via digital
camera to the computer.
2. In the next step of IPO principle the data entered by the
operating system or special software is received and
processed ( depending on the type of data ). What exactly
makes the software with the data you need to determine
user.
