• Another mild symptom of COVID-19 is dysgeusia (altered taste), and/or ageusia
` (loss of taste). Taste disorders are very often associated with viral infections.
• Gustatory System or sense of taste is the sensory system that is partially
responsible for the perception of taste (flavor).
• Oral Cavity serve as the entrance of the alimentary tract and to initiate the
digestive process by salivation and propulsion of the alimentary bolus into
the pharynx.
• Taste receptor cells sense various chemical compounds in foods and
transmit these signals through gustatory nerve fibers to the central nervous
system. 
• Taste buds are sensory organs that are found on your tongue and allow
you to experience tastes that are sweet, salty, sour, and bitter.
• Supporting cells may play a role in the clearance of excess
neurotransmitters after their release from taste receptor cells.
