What you see in the first slide are examples


of lines.

We know already that line is an element of


art. There are different kinds of lines. Let’s
review them.
Straight Lines Curved Lines
• vertical lines • spiral
• horizontal lines • arc
• diagonal lines • swirl
• zigzag lines • wavy

Shape
Shape is another element of art.

You can form shape when you put lines


together.

You can create art using shapes.


Combining these two horizontal lines and
two vertical lines will give us a shape. This
shape is a rectangle.

There are two kinds of shapes

• Natural shapes

• Geometric shapes
Natural Shape

They are also called organic shapes. They


come from nature. The shape of flowers,
leaves, and animals are organic shapes.

They are man-made shapes. They are
made up of points and lines. These are
shapes with lines that are very straight as
if drawn using a ruler or a perfect curve.
