Epilogue
 Jabalpur (JBP) is a cosmopolitan city strategically located in
the Heart Of India in Mahakaushal Region. Jabalpur also
epithet as “Sanskardhani” since it is a Cultural Epitome of
Madhya Pradesh.
 JBP is the administrative Head Quarters of JBP District & JBP
Division.
 JBP is the H.Q. of the MPBO area ( Defense & Military
Centre ), West Central Railway Zone, M.P. State Electricity
Board, M.P. High Court & Home Gaurd.
 The world renowned philosophers like Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
& Bhagwan Rajnish ( Osho) hail from Jabalpur.
 The World Famous ‘Marble Rocks’ where the virgin river
Narmada cascades through the Marble Rocks, is the pride of
the city.
The P.M. of India launched JNNURM on
3rd Dec’2005 for Seven Yrs.

( JNNURM ) states “ reforms driven, fast track,
planned development of identified cities with
focus on efficiency in urban infrastructure /
service delivery mechanism, community
participation & accountability of Urban Local
Bodies towards citizens”
 In lieu of this mission approx. 2000 Crs. is
envisaged for Jabalpur city for its extensive &
planned urbanization.
Socio-Economic Profile
 The population of Jabalpur is about one & a half million and is in
fluxed by the migrating village folks for commodities & services.
 The Work Participation Ratio of JBP is 30.5 comparable to other
Major cities of M.P. like Bhopal & Indore, ensuring higher
probability of available disposable income.
 Head Quarter of Govt. & Defense with the largest Ordinance
Factory Base of India. Comprising of 60% Civilians & 40%
Defense Personnel.
 Well connected to main stream lines via Rail, Road and Air ( with
the airport undergoing further upgradation. )
 JBP is the hub of education with numerous Govt. & Autonomous
institutions producing skilled professionals & trained work-force.
Bharat Ratna Dr. Bheemrao Ambedkar Telecom Training Centre is

Tourist Information
 Marble Rocks at Bheraghat cascades into a smoky
waterfall known as “ Dhuandhaar ” when Narmada
plunges into the gorge of 100 feet high Marble Rocks.
 Bargi Dam a multi-purpose dam on Narmada River.
 Kanha National Park, core of Tiger Reserve is 145 Kms
from Jabalpur.
 Bandhavgarh National Park, wild life sanctuary is White
Tiger Reserve and is 175 Kms from Jabalpur.
 Pachmarhi the hill station of Madhya Pradesh is 250 Kms
from Jabalpur.

Scenario
 Jabalpur besides being the administrative centre for the Central, State &
Defense establishments, the surrounding areas of the city are rich in mineral
resources which has resulted into coming up of various industries.
 The soaring demand of residential buildings has introduced apartment style
multistoried townships.
 The shopping centers in JBP are Sadar, Gorakhpur, Fuhara where there is area
specific retail market.
 Presently there is no organized retail or Mall type developments in the city ,

 The First “Entertainment Destination” of Jabalpur, South Avenue Mall (SAM) will
be operational this year December.
