Art during the Spanish


Era
The Philippines was colonized by Spain from
1565 to 1898 which brought changes in the
lives of the Filipino, including art.
Missionaries from Spain utilized visual arts
in influencing Filipinos to Christianity. The
Filipinos were fascinating by the colorful
pageantry of the Roman Catholic Church
that converting them into a new faith became
easy.
