Past continuous tense (past progressive)
• The past continuous is used to express:
Interrupted actions
Parallel actions
Continuous actions in the past
Interrupted actions
• We were watching TV when the phone rang
• (verb to be in the past tense)
• Verb ring = rang (past tense)
Parallel actions in the past
• He was doing his homework while his mother was cooking dinner
Continuous actions in the past
• Last night at 7pm Sheyla was teaching to her students from Ayacucho.
