TAWHEED

ONENESS
OF ALLAH

DEFENITION OF TAWHEED

 Tawheed in Arabic means attributing Oneness to
Allah and describing Him as being One and Unique,
with no partner or peer in His Essence and Attributes.

 The Arabs say waahid, ahad and waheed, all meaning

one. Allaah is Waahid, meaning that He has no rivals
or peers in any way.

 So Tawheed means knowing Allaah is One, with

none like unto Him.
Three Types of
TAWHEED

 Tawheed Ur Ruboobyah

 Tawheed Ul Uloohiyyah

 Tawheed Asma Wa Sifaat.
Tawheed ur-Ruboobiyah

 Believe in the Absolute Oneness of Allah Subhanah as the One
and Only Rabb in the worlds! He Alone is The Creator, The
Sustainer, The Cherisher, The All Mighty, The Provider,
The Bestower, and The Originator! Tawheed ur-Ruboobiyah is to
believe that there is absolutely no doubt in Allah Subhanah being
the One and Only Rabb or Lord of the Worlds, and He has
absolutely no partners in his Lordship or Ruboobiyah.

 Even the pagan mushriks of Makkah used to admit their belief in
the Ruboobiyaah or Lordship of Allah Subhanah. This is
something that no person dares to deny!

Tawheed ur-Ruboobiyah

 Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 29 Surah Ankaboot verses 61-
63:
 61 If indeed thou ask them (the disbelievers) who has created the
heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon (to His
Law)?; they will certainly reply "Allah." How are they then deluded
away (from the Truth)?
 62 Allah enlarges the sustenance (which He gives) to whichever of His
servants He pleases; and He (similarly) grants by (strict) measure (as
He pleases): for Allah has full knowledge of all things.
 63 And if indeed thou ask them (the disbelievers) who it is that sends
down rain from the sky and gives life therewith to the earth after its
death?; they will certainly reply "Allah!" Say "Praise be to Allah!" But
most of them understand not.
Tawheed Ul Uloohiyyah

 Tawheed ul-Uloohiyah is to believe in the Absolute
Oneness of Allah Subhanah as the One and
Only Ilaah of the worlds! When Allah Alone is the
Creator, and Sustainer, and Cherisher of the worlds,
then He ALONE deserves to be worshipped.

 Worship is the exclusive and sole right of

Allah Subhanah due from His slaves. All rites, all
rituals, and absolutely all forms of worship are due to
none, but the One and Only Ilaah or True God of the
Worlds, Allah Subhanah wa Taala. That is Tawheed ul-
Uloohiyah.
Tawheed Ul Uloohiyyah

 Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 27 Surah Naml verses 62-65: 62 Or who
listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him and who relieves its
suffering and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there
be another) ilaah besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed!
 63 Or who guides you through the depths of darkness on land and sea
and who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings going before His
mercy? (Can there be another) ilaah besides Allah? High is Allah
above what they associate with Him!
 64 Or who originates Creation, then repeats it, and who gives you
sustenance from heaven and earth? (Can there be
another) ilaah besides Allah? Say "Bring forth your argument if ye are
telling the truth!"
 65 Say: None in the heavens or on earth except Allah knows what is
hidden: nor can they perceive when they shall be raised up (for
Judgment).
Tawheed Asma Wa Sifaat.

Asma means names, and Sifaat means Attributes;
thus Tawheed Asma was-Sifaat means to believe in all
the Exclusive and Noble Names and Attributes of
Allah Subhanah, and not share any of His Exclusive
Attributes with anyone or anything in His
creation! None of Allah Subhanahs Exclusive
Attributes or Sifaats can be denied, nor can their
meaning be lowered or humbled, nor can they be
shared with anyone and anything in creation: this
belief in the Noble and Exclusive Names and Attributes
of Allah Subhanah, in their absolute sense and tense of
Perfection, is known as Tawheed Asma was-Sifaat.
Tawheed Asma Wa Sifaat.

For example, one of the Noble and Exclusive Names
and Attributes of Allah Subhanah is As-Samee or the
All Hearing. If one assumes anyone or anything; any
person, any grave, any idol, any Prophet, etc.,
absolutely anyone other than Allah Subhanah to be
All-Hearing, then he has shared this Exclusive
Attribute of Allah Subhanah with one other than
Allah, and thus guilty of the heinous crime of shirk!
Tawheed Asma Wa Sifaat.

 Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 17-18:

 17 Who doth more wrong than such as forge a lie against Allah,
or deny His Signs? But never will prosper those who sin.
 18 They serve (worship, invoke) besides Allah things that hurt
them not, nor profit them, and they say: "These are our
intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do ye indeed inform Allah of
something He Knows not in the heavens or on earth? Glory to
Him! And far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!"
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 1- A believer in this testimony can never be narrow
in outlook. He believes in Allah, Who is the Creator
of the heavens and the earth, the Master of the
universe and its Sustainer. After this belief, he does
not regard anything in the world as a stranger to
himself. He looks on everything in the universe as
belonging to the same Lord he himself belongs to.
Allah Almighty Says (what means): {Say (O
Muhammad): ‘To whom belongs all that is in the
heavens and on earth?’ Say: ‘To Allah.’} [Quran 6:12]
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 2- This belief produces in man the highest degree of self-
respect and self esteem. The believer knows that Allah
Alone is the Possessor of all power, and that none besides
Him can benefit or harm a person, or provide for his needs,
or give and take away life or wield authority or influence.
This conviction makes him indifferent to, independent on,
and fearless of all powers other than those of Allah. He
never bows his head in homage to any of Allah's creatures,
nor does he stretch out his hand before anyone else. He is
not overawed by anybody's greatness. This attitude of mind
cannot be produced by any other belief.
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 3-Along with self-respect, this belief also generates in
man a sense of modesty and humbleness. A
believer never becomes proud or arrogant. The
unrestrained pride of power, wealth and worth can
have no room in his heart, because he knows that
whatever he possesses has been given to him by Allah,
and that Allah can take away just as He can give. In
contrast to this, an unbeliever, when he achieves some
worldly merit, becomes proud and conceited because
he believes that his merit is due to his own worth.
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 4- This belief makes man virtuous and upright. He
has the conviction that there is no other means of
success and salvation for him except purity of soul
and righteousness of behavior. He has perfect faith
in Allah Who is above all needs, is related to none
and is absolutely Just. This belief creates in him the
consciousness that unless he lives rightly and acts
justly, he cannot succeed. No influence or underhand
activity can save him from ruin.
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 5- The believer never becomes hopeless. He has a firm
faith in Allah Who is The Master of all the treasures of
the earth and the heavens, Whose grace and bounty have
no limit and Whose power is infinite. This faith imparts
to his heart extraordinary consolation, fills it with
satisfaction and keeps it filled with hope. Although he
may be met with rejection from all sides in this world,
faith in and dependence on Allah never leave him, and
on that strength he goes on struggling. Such profound
confidence can result from no other belief than belief in
Allah Alone.
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 6- This testimony of faith inspires bravery in man. There are two things
which make a man cowardly: (a) fear of death and love of safety, and
(b) the idea that there is someone else besides Allah who can take away
life, and that man- by adopting certain devices- can ward off death.

 Belief in 'La ilaha illallah'' blocks and drives away both these ideas. The
first idea goes out of his mind because he knows that his life and his
property and everything else really belong to Allah, and he becomes
ready to sacrifice his all for the pleasure of Allah. He gets rid of the
second idea because he knows that no weapon, no man or animal has
the power of taking away his life; Allah alone has the power to do so. A
time has been ordained for him, and all the forces of the world
combined cannot take away anyone's life before that time.
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON LIFE

 7- The belief in 'La ilaha illallah' creates an attitude of
peace and contentment, purges the mind of jealousy,
envy and greed, and keeps away the temptations of
resorting to base and unfair means for achieving
success. The believer understands that wealth is in
Allah's Hands, and He apportions it out as He Wills;
that honor, power, reputation and authority -
everything - is also subjected to His Will, and He
bestows them as He Wills; and that man's duty is
only to endeavor and to struggle fairly.
Hadith

 Narrated Mu'adh bin Jabal Rz.:
 The Prophet said, "O Mu'adh! Do you know what
Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allah and
His Apostle know best." The Prophet said, "To
worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in
worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their
right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle
know best." The Prophet said, "Not to punish them
(if they do so)."
