FISHERIES DIVISION
What is Fisheries?
Refers to all activities relating to the act or
business of fishing, culturing, preserving,
processing, marketing, developing,
conserving and managing aquatic resources
and fishery areas including the privilege to
fish or take aquatic resources.
Mandates of Government Agencies relevant to fishery Law for BFAR
DA-
Formulate and enforce all laws, rules and regulations governing
the conservation and proper utilization of agricultural and fishery
resources (E0 No. 292, Title IV).
BFAR-
Enforce all laws governing the conversation and management of fishery
resources, except in municipal waters (RA 8850, sec 65) as amended by RA
10654.
Formulate and enforce all rules and regulations governing the conservation
and management of fishery resources, except in municipal waters (RA 8550 sec.
65) as amended by RA 10654
DENR-
Implement and assume over-all administration and management of the National Integrated Protected
areas System (RA 7586)

2. COAST GUARD
- Assist in enforcement of
laws on fisheries immigration,
tariff and customs, forestry,
firearms and explosives
- Board and inspect all types of merchant ships and water craft in the
performance of this functions with in the maritime jurisdictions
3. NAVY
- Navigation, safety of life at sea,
- immigration, custom, revenues,
- quarantine, fishing and neutrality of the territorial contiguous waters
of the Philippines
- Enforce RA 8550, as amended by RA 10654 as well as other fishery laws,
rules and regulations
4. PNP
- Enforce all laws and ordinances
- involving the protection of lives
- and properties as well as the maintenance of peace and order
DSWD-
• Implement RA 7610, otherwise known as
the “Special Protection of Children Against
Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination
Act,”.
DOJ
Strengthen the prosecution and conviction
aspects of fishery law enforcement
