Types of cotton

Egyptian Cotton-
fine, lustrous cotton has long and thinner fibers.
light brown in colour
used for bed sheets, cushion covers
Sea Island
long staple and silky texture
used in the finest cotton counts and mixed with silk.
costly
Pima Cotton
ELS (extra long staple)
quality that is comparable to that of the Egyptian cotton.
strength, softness, durability and absorbency
Used in clothing, towels and sheets.
Asiatic Cotton:
India, China and the Near east- growers
coarse and harsh fibers
Used for blankets, filters, coarse clothes, padding
materials
American Upland Cotton:
less expensive and of a basic quality
Used in shirts and denim
Other Types of Cotton
Canton Cotton- Heavier cotton that is found in sweaters
for the fall and winter
Bamboo Cotton-use actual crushed bamboo mixed with
the organic cotton to create clothing
Cotton Twill- lighter flannel-like cotton, good for fall
wear
French Terry Cotton- slightly heavier than cotton twill,
soft and has a short nap
Honey Comb Cotton- lightweight type of cotton that
dries quickly
Oxford Chambray Cotton-  medium weight cotton
Types of Cotton Fabric
Knitted Cotton Fabric -
Used for manufacturing T-shirts.
Machines with needles are employed to grab the yarn and
create a series of stitches.
These stitches are the ones which form this soft and stretchable
fabric.
Woven Cotton Fabric -
Cotton fabric is done by the use of a loom and a shuttle.
Non-woven Cotton Fabric -
Fabric is created using heat or chemicals to hold the fibres in
place
