Definition of a Professional Nurse

A person who has completed a


basic nursing education program
and is licensed in his/her country
or state to practice professional

Professional Preparation: A nurse
must

1. Have a licensed to practice nursing


in the country. (Passed the NLE)
2. Have a Bachelor of Science degree
in Nursing; and
3. Be physically and mentally fit
Qualifications of a Public Health Nurse
Must be a Graduate of Bachlor of
Science in Nursing
Professionally qualified and
licensed to practice in the area of
public health
Possess personal qualities and
“people skills”
Consistent with the Nursing Law
