• LUKASHEVYCH PLATON (1809-1887) folklorist and
ethnographer, publisher.
• He was born into a landowner's family

1. In 1821 he entered the Nizhyn

Gymnasium of Higher Sciences.
2. He was a great friend of Nikolai
Gogol.
3. After graduating from Nizhyn
Gymnasium he studied at the
Richelieu Lyceum in Odessa.

Russian and Red Russian folk
thoughts and songs" (1836), which
included his own records.
• The publication contains 176 samples
of song genres with comments and
notes and one order

Known as a collector of folklore, the owner

of a library of works on Ukrainian literature,
this attracted the attention of Shevchenko.

Shevchenko came to him in Berezan.

Cruelty to serfs and lordly arrogance were
the reasons that Shevchenko stopped
dating him…
