India and globalization

-From decades Globalization has occurred in many parts of the


country in history.

-In India also, globalization started in the British era.

-During the colonial period, under the rule of Britisher, India


became the main exporter of primary goods and raw material and a
consumer.

-But after independence in 1945, after a very devastating experience


With Britishers and getting oppressed by them, we decided to make
Things ourselves rather relying on others.

-And India also decided to not allow other countries to export
their products, so our producers could learn to make products.

-This idea ways very beneficial in some areas but this


‘protectionism’ generated its problems as critical sectors like
health housing and primary education didn’t receive the
attention they deserved.

-Then in 1991, responding to financial crises, India embarked


on a programme of economic reforms that have sought
increasingly to de-regulate various sectors like trade and
foreign investment.
