Prebiotic UG1601 mitigates constipation-related events in
association with gut microbiota:
A randomized placebo-controlled intervention study Introduction • Constipation is one of the most common functional disorder • Characterize as one or more symptoms: • Hardened stools • Infrequent evacuation • Uncomfortable senese of incomplete evacuation • Execessive time spent for successful defecation • Etiology are multifactorial • Prebiotics undergo bacterial fermentation tat may produce Short chaine fatty acid (butyrate) can change stool consistency • UG1601: Inulin, lactitol, and aloe vera gel which are known laxative Summary: • Among participants aged (18-60 y.o) with constipation what is the effect of UG1601 supplementation versus placebo, in attaining alleviation of symptom score and endotoxemia through randomized, double blinded, placebo-controlled and parallel study design Results Conclusion: • Supplementation with UG1601 with mild constipation improved stool frequency and suppressed endotoxemia • Decrease in the abundance of phylum Firmicutes and increase in butyrate-producing bacteria may reduce available LPS which can regulate intestinal motility and lower endotoxemia
