NEURODIVERSITY

What is diversity to be exact?

Diversity is the range of
human differences, including
but not limited to race,
ethnicity, gender, gender
identity, sexual orientation,
age, social class, physical
ability or attributes, religious
or ethical values system,
national origin, and political
beliefs.
But have you have ever heard of Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity is the idea of naturally

occurring differences in our brain.

Neuro divergence is the term used for

individuals whose brains “diverge” from the
“norm.”

It is tagged as an invisible disablity

The Two Sides Of Neurodiversity

NEUROTYPICAL NEURODIVERGENT
 People with standard  People whose brain
brain processing and functioning and
functioning processing deviates
 Neurotypical people from what is
often do not know considered "typical"
that they are  Neurodivergent people
neurotypical are usually made
 Seen as "normal“ aware that their brains
function differently
 Seen as "abnormal"
 Executive function is a
set of mental skills that
include working
memory, flexible
thinking, and self-
control. We use these
skills every day to learn,
work, and manage daily
life. Trouble with
executive function can
make it hard to focus,
follow directions, and
handle emotions, among
other things.
COGNITIVE SKILLS

 Cognitive skills are the

core skills your brain
uses to think, read,
learn, remember,
reason, and pay
attention
Neuro diverse people experience, interact with, and interpret the world
in unique ways. This concept can help reduce stigma around learning
and thinking differences.

What would happen if the world viewed neurodevelopmental

differently? If everyone noticed the strengths that can come from these
differences first, instead of the challenges?

It is an extra ability not a disability. It is a STRENGTH not something

missing.

That it is not something that should be treated but something to be

celebrated.
