CLIMATE

• Climate – is the general pattern of


weather in a certain area over a long
period of time.

• Weather – is the condition of the


atmosphere at a specific place and
time.
• Latitude - are the horizontal mapping
lines on Earth.
- they are known as “parallels” of
latitude, because they run parallel to the
equator

• Longitude – are vertical mapping lines on


Earth
- they are known as meridian

CLIMATE ZONE

1. Torrid Zone - refers to the area of the


earth between the Tropic of Cancer and
the Tropic of Capricorn.
Geographically, the Torrid Zone is
defined by 23.5 degrees north latitude
and 23.5 degrees south latitude. The
tropical zone is another name for the
Torrid Zone.

2. Temperate Zone - is the part of the earth


between the Tropic of Cancer and the
Arctic Circle in the Northern Hemisphere
or between the Tropic of Capricorn and
the Antarctic Circle in the Southern
Hemisphere.
Having a climate that is warm in the
summer, cold in the winter and moderate
in the spring and fall.

3. Frigid Zone - is the area between the


Arctic Circle and the North Pole or
between the Antarctic Circle and the South
Pole.
The climate is characterized by a long
season of severe winter and even the
summer season is cold.
