OBJECTIVES:The learners should be able to distinguish
the process as spontaneous or non-spontaneous process.

MATERIALS
A.DRYING LEAVES
B.BREAKAGE OF AN EGG
C.SPOILAGE OF FOOD
D.COOLING OF WATER
E.WATERFALL
F.RICE COOKING
.
PROCEDURE

1.Study the illustration given.

2.From the illustration above fill the table like this:

spontaneous process non-spontaneous process need work to reverse the

process

drying of leaves cooling of water drying of leaves

spoilage of food breakage of egg spoilage of food

water fall rice cooking water fall

Questions:

Q3. Which of them are spontaneous process?

Q4.How can we reverse the process for each of the following?
a.drying of leaves to make them fresh again.
b.fixing an eggshell to make it whole.
c.keeping the food fresh from spoilage.
d.heating of water.
e.flowing the water back to the top.
Q5.what is needed to reverse the process?
Answer:

Q3.The example of spontaneous process are drying of leaves, spoilageof food and waterfall.
Q4. a. This process is irreversible. Once the leaves are detached from the branches of the
tree the nutrients from the tree will not flow through the veins of the leaves.
b. There is no way where a broken eggshell may be returned back to its original shape,
once the shell has cracked there is no way that the pieces will once again be bonded to each
other. So that, this is an irreversible process.
c. The chemical composition of the spoiled food can not be returned back to its original
condition. The decomposition of the food has already taken place hence this is an
irreversible process.
d. Water can be heated and cooled down, hence the process is reversible.
Answer:

d. Water can be heated and cooled down, hence the process is reversible.
e. By using of a water pump, Water can continuously flow from top. Therefore this
is reversible.
Q5. Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a
semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules and larger particles from
drinking water. ... The process is similar to other membrane technology applications.
However, key differences are found between reverse osmosis andf filtration.
