When Jose Rizal was a student
of Ateneo de Municipal, he
remembered his beloved town.
Rizal being away from his
family,he reminisced his
memories of childhood in his
hometown Calamba, Laguna.
He loved Calamba with all his
heart and soul.
So Rizal decided to wrote a
poem as a tribute to his beloved
town which he entitled “Un
Recuerdo A Mi Pueblo” or in
English “In Memory of my
Town”. These poem was one of

of his past.
MESSAGE OF JOSE
RIZAL
It seems that Rizal is recalling
the sweet memories of his
childhood when he stayed in
the green fields with cold wind
breezes enjoying the fresh
smell of nature. He expresses
his feeling of longing for the
simple life he had way back
home. He also missed his
devotion as a devoted catholic.
Rizal also appreciate the creations
of God. He give intention to the
beauty of his hometown, a place
founded by blissful memories that
he longs for. The pain of
loneliness is eased by the
memories of his treasured
hometown. But above all, his
dream for his hometown is to be
as peaceful and as happy when he
was there.
SIGNIFICANCE
The world today is far different
to what has been before. The
beauty, pleasure and gladness
being felt in the past is no
longer the same as it is today.
The flow of our life is far
different on how it was then, if
we look in the brighter side,
there’s a hope that we can turn
our way of life into a vivid one.
We can still have a beautiful
town, a rich hometown of
rejoicing and a harmonious
music that could drove all away
the pain like the way it is when
a tender childhood still
embraces us. Our memories of
the past can lead us to the
change we want for the world
today.
