    Conditional sentence type 2

    Pengertian
    Second conditional sentences merupakan
    tipe kalimat pengandaian yang digunakan
    ketika hasil atau konsekuensi hanya
    memiliki harapan terwujud walaupun
    kemungkinannya sangat kecil.
    Jadi bisa dikatakan kalau kalimat
    pengandaian tipe kedua ini belum tentu
    terjadi namun juga bisa menjadi kenyataan.
    Sebagai kalimat contoh: If I were you
    (syarat), I would buy a new car (hasil).
    Dengan contoh kalimat di atas dapat
    dilihat bahwa tidak mungkin seseorang
    menjadi orang lain maka dalam kondisi
    ini conditional sentence type 2 yang
    paling tepat digunakan.
    Rumus
    Untuk membuat conditional sentence type
    2, kamu bisa menggunakan rumus ini:
    If + Simple Past + , + Subject + Would
    + Verb atau
    Subject + Would + Verb + If + Simple
    Past
    contoh
    I would buy a new car if I were you. (fact: I am
    not you)
    If they studied hard, they would pass. (fact:
    They do not study)
    I would give a discount if I were the owner.
    (fact: I am not the owner)
    If Ann had a lot of money, she would buy an
    island. (fact: Ann has no money)
    Troy would go to the moon if he had a space
    shuttle. (fact: Troy does not have it)
    Bentuk
    Dalam kalimat type 2 conditional,
    tense dalam klausa if adalah simple
    past dan tense dalam klausa utama
    adalah present conditional atau 
    present continuous conditional.
    Sama seperti dalam semua kalimat conditional, urutan
    klausa tidaklah tetap. Anda mungkin harus
    menyesuaikan kata ganti (pronoun) dan tanda baca
    saat mengubah urutan klausa, tetapi artinya sama.
    Contoh
    If it rained, you would get wet.
    You would get wet if it rained.
    If you went to bed earlier you wouldn't be
    so tired.
    You wouldn't be so tired if you went to
    bed earlier.
    If she fell, she would hurt herself.
    She would hurt herself if she fell.
    Penggunaan "if I were" dan bukan "if I was"
    (subjunctive mood) adalah benar dan sangat
    umum digunakan.

    Contoh
    If I were taller, I would buy this dress.
    If I were 20, I would travel the world.
    If I were you, I would give up smoking.
    If I were a plant, I would love the rain.
    Dalam kalimat type 2 conditional, Anda juga dapat
    menggunakan modal dalam klausa utama dan
    bukan would untuk menyatakan tingkat kepastian, izin,
    atau rekomendasi mengenai hasil atau akibat akhir.

    Contoh
    We might buy a larger house if we had more money
    He could go to the concert if you gave him your
    ticket.
    If he called me, I couldn't hear.
