SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT
Sustainable development has been defined in
many ways, but the most frequently
quoted definition is from Our Common
Future, also known as the Brundtland Report:
"Sustainable development is development that
meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs.
3 PRINCIPLES OF
SUSTAINABILITY
• Economic Sustainability
• Environmental Sustainability
• Social Sustainability
GLOBAL
MIGRATION
• A situation in which people go to live in
foreign countries, especially in order to find
work: Most global migration is from
developing countries to developed ones.
IMPORTANCE OF
GLOBAL MIGRATION
• Migration is important for the transfer of
manpower and skills and provides the needed
knowledge and innovation for global growth.
In order to address the issues raised by global
migration, it is necessary to improve
international coordination.
4 TYPES OF GLOBAL
MIGRATION
• Counter-urbanization migration
• Internal migration
• International migration
• Rural-urban migration
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL
MIGRATION
• The economic effects of migration vary
widely. Sending countries may experience both
gains and losses in the short term but may
stand to gain over the longer term. For
receiving countries temporary worker
programs help to address skills shortages but
may decrease domestic wages and add to
public welfare burden.
GLOBALIZATION OF
RELIGION
• Globalization refers to the historical process
by which all the world's people increasingly
come to live in a single social unit. It
implicates religion and religions in several
ways. ... Among the consequences of this
implication for religion have been
that globalization encourages religious
pluralism.
EFFECT OF
GLOBALIZATION TO
RELIGION
• The basic tenets of globalization stand
against religious parochialism. By diminishing
the barriers between different
cultures, globalization lands religion in a
quagmire of conflicts which reinforce social
identities as some do not accept the new
realities and turn to religion to rediscover their
own identity
GLOBAL MEDIA
CULTURE
• Global Media Cultures explores the
relationship between the media, culture and
globalization. The course approaches past
and current challenges concerning
international communication and explores
and problematizes the power
of media representation.
ROLES OF MEDIA TO
CULTURE
GLOBAZILATION
• Media's Role in the Globalization Process.
The media is media technologies that are
intended to reach a large audience by mass
communication. Today the media play a
key role in enhancing globalization. And
the media also play important role in
facilitating culture exchange flows of
information between countries
