NAMING FILES
FILENAME - an identifying name given to a computer file.

A filename has two parts, which


are separated by a dot (.): the
filename proper (ACT#1) and the
extension (docx). The extension
tells you the format or the kind of
file you have just saved.

Step by Step Procedure on How to Name the File

1. Click the Microsoft Word Icon on your desktop


2. Wait for the icon to load
Click X (if applicable)
3. Click the FILE TAB

4. Click SAVE AS

5. Click This PC
NAMING FILES
6. Click Browse
7. Change the Filename to <your full name>

8. Click SAVE

9. Look at the Filename of your Document
MANAGING FILES
File management programs in computers let you do the following
tasks:

• open, delete, rename files and folders


• move and copy files and folders
• launch applications
• see a preview of the file’s contents using a file viewer
