Benefits for Supplier Lab

• One of the main advantages of having an approved supplier lab is to be


able to test many more samples which is both more practical &
economic & also leads to better control over production.
• H&M will trust approved suppliers test reports, which also reduce cost &
lead time.
Lab Levels
There are 3 different levels of labs, level 1-3 depending on which
equipment is available & which test H&M has given approval for:
• Level-1: Colourfastness to household laundering, Dimensional Stability
to household laundering, twisting, appearance after wash,
colourfastness to dry/wet rubbing, drop test and nickel test.

• Level-2: Level 1+ Colourfastness to water, perspiration, saliva &


phenolic yellowing. Spray test, Cold test, Absorbency, Dye transfer
storage.

• Level-3: Level 2+ Pile loss, pilling, seam slippage, tearing strength,


tensile strength, bursting strength.
QA Organization
An acceptable QA organization should be consist of

Two or more above roles could be covered by the same person. H&M
recommend having at least two lab technicians, in case of staff turnover.
Relevant correlation tests need to be accepted before approval.

QA Method
• Suppliers with approval lab not only have a lab setup & H&M test.
They must follow quality assurance working method like below:

Test Routine
• Supplier shall test according to the order risk assessment sheet
provided by H&M. The purpose of this routine is to give a tool
to secure that the whole production is in compliance with H&M
quality requirements.

Accreditation Certificate
• All Technician Undergo the lab development process must receive
a certificate. This certificate indicates the authority of the
technician for releasing goods based on his/her ok test results.
Trims & Details
• This chapter is written to give guidance on how to secure & test trims & details
in order to secure the quality of each component.
1. Definition: Different components(functional/non-functional or decorative
attach to a product as like Linings, Fusing’s, Mesh, bows, labels, beads,
sequins, buttons.

quality for each trim/detail being used.
