Ancient Egypt was a powerful civilization that dominated the region for over 3,000 years along the Nile River. The Egyptians relied heavily on the Nile, using its floods to water their crops, its mud to make bricks, and its papyrus plants to create paper, boats, and other materials. Major cities like Memphis were established between Upper and Lower Egypt after a king first united the two kingdoms. The predictable flooding of the Nile also helped shape Egypt's calendar and religious beliefs. Overall, the document discusses how the Nile River was intrinsically tied to the development of Egyptian society, agriculture, trade, and daily life.
