PROCLAMATION OF PHI

LIPPINE INDEPENDENC
E
Philippine Independence

During the Spanish-American War, Filipino rebels led

by Emilio Aguinaldo proclaim the independence of
the Philippines after 333 years of Spanish rule. By
mid-August, Filipino rebels and U.S. troops had
ousted the Spanish, but Aguinaldo’s hopes for
independence were dashed when the United States
formally annexed the Philippines as part of its peace
treaty with Spain.
The Document from the Proclamation of Philippine
Independence also mention Rizal's execution, calling it
unjust. The execution, as written in the document,
was done to “please the greedy body of friars in their
insatiable desire to seek revenge upon and
exterminate all those who are opposed to their
Machiavellian purposes, which tramples upon the
penal code prescribed for these islands .
By reading the document, I noticed that our national
flag didn't come up already on how we think how it
means nowadays. It's original color meaning is a
commemoration of the USA National Flag for our
extended gratitude towards them for lending their
power and support unto us in our battle of our
independence. The U.S.A later gave the full
independence to the Philippines, independence to
vote and choose a leader, independence to
sovereignty in land, water and in air .
In 1935, the Commonwealth of the Philippines was
established with U.S. approval, and Manuel Quezon
was elected the country’s first president. On July 4,
1946, full independence was granted to the
Republic of the Philippines by the United States.
