A Brief History

• Taiwan Long controlled by China, it was a military defeat in 1895 that


forced China to cede (give) Taiwan to Japan. 50 years later, after the end
of World War II, Taiwan reverted to Chinese control.

• Over the next five decades , Taiwan prospered, and transformed itself
into one of Asia's modern economic powerhouses, along with South
Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. Today, Taiwan is the 17th largest
economy in the world, and its immediate and long term futures are
certainly bright.

DESCRIPTION of Flag

The Taiwan flag was officially adopted on October 28, 1928.

The white sun on the blue field was the Kuomintang party flag, and the rays represent two hours of each day. The red
field represents the Han Chinese race.

There are many different types of traditional clothing in Taiwan. For
example there are headdresses, kimonos, tunics, and sashes, and even
particular kinds of ceremonial wedding dresses. There are about three
main types of traditional Chinese clothing;

 pien-fu
  The pien-fu type of clothing is a ceremonial outfit that consists of a top
similar to a tunic that goes all the way to the knees! Also the Chinese
wore skirts touching to their ankles.

chiang-piao
 This chiang-piao is feminine look that is still noticed today on both
genders at special occasions/events. This includes a long gown coming
from the Chin dynasty .

There red is worn in the summer, green in spring, white in fall, and black in
winter.
