Workforce diversity

•Workforce consisting of a broad mix of


workers from different racial and ethnic
background of different ages and genders,
and of different domestic and national
cultures.
Negative Effects of Diversity
Diverse groups are shown to be less integrated
and have a higher level of dissatisfaction.

Increases the level of dissatisfaction in group


members, as well as miscommunication.

Diversity can be linked with conflict, lower


group adhesiveness, increased employee
turnover and absenteeism, and lower quality of
performance.
Technological changes

 Includes tools,machinery,equipments,work
procedures,employee knowledge & skills.

 New methods are emerging that quickly


dominates the older ones & makes them
obsolete.
Thus skills required by the employees also
changes with the changing technology & this
would compels the worker to advance the skills
three to four times throughout their working
lives.

So there comes a burden on the HR department


to constantly update the skills & expertise of
their employees.
