Overview
Introduction
-The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky
outcrop above the city of Athens.

-It is a cultural UNESCO World Heritage Property that was


inscribed in 1987 for its cultural value and significance.
Pericles in the fifth century BC who
coordinated the construction of the
buildings which are the site's most
important ones.

-The Acropolis is the result of thousands of
years of construction beginning as far back
as the Bronze Age.

-During the Greek Dark Ages, Acropolis is a


symbol of the grandeur of ancient Athens.
