Domain 1 and 4
• Domain 1 and 4 represent behind the
scenes work.
• Domain 1 must be demonstrated with
artifacts and planning documents.
• Domain 4 must be demonstrated with
artifacts reflecting on a teacher’s
professionalism.
How do teachers
demonstrate skill
in Domain 2 and 3
• Domains 2 and 3 represent classroom
practices.
• Observation of teacher in the
classroom will demonstrate skill.
• Samples of student work can be used
to demonstrate skill.
• Domain 1 can be assessed and demonstrated
through a lesson plan.
• Domain 4 can be evaluated by examination
of artifacts collected by the teacher such as,
record keeping systems, communication
with families, professional development
activities, and involvement with colleagues.
• Domain 1 and 4 should be evaluated
annually.

• Domain 2 and 3 can be evaluated by
observing a full lesson.
• Most components of Domain 2 and 3 will be
addressed with a full lesson.
• If some components are missing than “no
evidence” will be recorded.
• Lack of evidence will not lower the teachers
score.

• Danielson Framework evaluation serves two
purposes, quality assurance and promoting
professional learning.

• Quality assurance, educators must be able to


ensure parents and the larger community that
they are well equipped to do the essential work
of educating students.

• Promoting professional learning, a highly


involved system produces information about
teachers’ strengths and weaknesses that can
point the teacher toward areas of growth.
