names and titles. Circle your proper nouns in both tables above.
Activity 3 - Nouns game
(5 mins)
Your tutor will give you a theme for each round of the game.

Each person must give a noun that fits with the theme, and it must also start with
the same letter that the last noun ended with.

For example the theme could be The World so Australia could be followed by
Argentina.
Activity 4 - Verbs (10 mins)
A verb is an action (doing or being). For example:

Claire reads her book.

Mike is a fireman.

Lucy danced in the show.

For each blank space in the paragraph below, fill in a verb that makes sense within the sentence:

the trees. The tiger _______________ loudly. Amy _____________ as fast as she could to her
bag. She ______________ a piece of meat and ______________ the meat into the forest.

Activity 6 - Simple Sentences (10
mins)
A simple sentence communicates one idea and has one main verb. The other words in the sentence
give us more information. E.g.

• It was sunny.
• Amit drank a cup of tea.
• Sarah shouted at her brother.

Simple sentences can be used to make statements, ask questions, give commands or build tension.

Imagine you are interviewing your favourite celebrity, a friend or a member of your family. Write their
answers to the following questions using full sentences.

Remember that your sentences should start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.
What is your
name?

What is your
job?

Where are you

from?
