RULES

We use present continuous to talk Interrogative


about action in progress or at the

Verb to be + Subject + verb-ing + Comp. ?


STRUCTURE

Affirmative Sentence Negative Sentence

Subject + Verb to be + not + verb-ing + Comp.


Subject + Verb to be + verb-ing + Comp.
EXAMPLES

I am drawing a forest. The horse is running fast.

What are doing your friends? Jessie is not crying. She is smiling
My friends are dancing.
Basic rule -ING RULES

Just add -ing to the base verb:

Work  Working Read  Reading

Sleep  Sleeping Eat  Eating

Go  Going Walk  Walking


Exceptions
. If the base verb ends in: Consonant + vowel + consonant

double the last consonant and add -ING

Run  Running Shop  Shopping

Get up  getting up Swim  Swimming


. If the base verb ends in ie, change the ie to y

Lie  Lying

Die  Dying

. If the base verb ends in:


vowel + consonant + e , omit the e
Come  Coming Write  Writing

Drive  Driving Make  Making


Yes / No Question -- Short Answer

EXAMPLE

- Is she dancing at the moment?

+ Yes, she is.
