“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself
and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social
services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability,
widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 25, par. 1

 Homelessness is the condition and social category of people who lack housing, because they
cannot afford, or are otherwise unable to maintain a regular, safe and adequate shelter.
 A homeless person is said to be an individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime
residence.
 To be “homeless” is to be without a place in which to live.
Help for homeless people
 The purpose of such groups is to help poor and
homeless people
 Members of these groups are young people because
they are energetic, clever and eager to help.
 They organize working groups of volunteers who will
find and visit homeless people and try to reveal
reasons of their homelessness.
 They try to reduce quantity of homeless, to find work
and to improve their living conditions and well-being.
 Everybody can join to these groups
The ways of solving this problem
 №1 Provide free medical examination and supply homeless with the most important and
necessary pills and tablets. Many homeless are ill and have different diseases. And very often
they don’t have money to visit a doctor and to begin treatment.
№2 Organize forced treatment in special hospitals and supply these hospitals with all necessary
things.
Some homeless take drugs, drink alcohol, have deep depression or some other diseases dangerous
for other people.
№3 Help homeless people to find their relatives and friends, to find and restore lost documents
(passports, credit cards, ID, driving license). As many homeless people have no place to store
possessions, they often lose their belongings or find them destroyed by police or others.
“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry,
naked and homeless.
The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for
is the greatest poverty. We must start in our homes to
remedy this kind of poverty”.
