About me

 My name is Esmeralda Luna, and I am at the old age of

18.
 My birthday is August 6, 2002 making me a Leo if you
couldn’t already tell :)
 I was born and raised right here North Las Vegas
 I am the proud daughter of two immigrant parents from
Mexico.
 In three more years, I will become the first in my family
to complete a college level education.
 I grew up in a restaurant environment always watching
my parents work to support our family.
 When I got a little bit older, I worked in the very same
restaurant as a dishwasher and waitress.
 I am currently a full-time student
My Family
 I come from a very large family and they are by far my biggest support
system, constantly encouraging me to be the best version of myself.
 My parents immigrated to the U.S from Mexico back in the 80’s, since
they got here, they have always been working, whether it be small side
jobs to owning and working in various restaurants. They are now
retired but still work small jobs whenever they can.
 They are my greatest inspiration, they have taught me through actions
and words the importance of making someone out of yourself.
 I have a total of 5 siblings ranging from the ages of 35-13, a slightly
large age gap I may say.
 This makes me an aunt of seven nieces and nephews who I adore.
 I have a total of 25 aunts and uncles, but I am only close to about 5 of
them.
 I have way too many cousins to name but one that stands out is my
cousin “Oli” she has been my absolute best friend since I met her,
from childhood antics to late night coffee drives. I am incredibly
grateful to have her in my life.
Pets :)

 Here are the real stars of the show my beautiful pets!

 Starting off with my oldest dog Mona, she is a Rottweiler
mixed in with I believe a Lab? I can’t be too sure, but she
is now 7 years young!
 Mona had seven puppies and we kept two of them, Bruno
and Mechi, who unfortunately passed away last March (I
still miss her). Bruno is now turning four this year.
 Then we have my Red-crowned amazon parrot named
Curro who is a new addition to the family and has quickly
become my best friend.
 Now the donkey is not exactly mine, he’s my sisters but I
visit often, and I like to pretend he’s mine :)
What Teaching
Means To me
 While reflecting upon the meaning of what a “good” teacher
is, I realized that what makes a memorable teacher is
showing how much they care about the student's health and
well being, as well as their academic life. Creating a safe
zone for students when they walk in a class will overall help
their academic life while leaving them with a positive
memory of school.
 I firmly believe that if a teacher genuinely puts effort into
things such as creating exciting lesson plans and setting up
attainable expectations for their students, then the students
will be more inclined to learn and retain the information
being presented to them.
Why I chose to become
a teacher?
 I have always subconsciously known I wanted to become a teacher, but I
never worked towards that goal until I was a sophomore in high school.
 That is when my schools' brand new Teaching and Training elective was
announced which I immediately signed up for (I’m glad I did).
 I enrolled into that elective for the remainder of my high school years,
through it I took various EDU classes and attended many workshops
about teaching itself.
 I also realized that one of the reasons I wanted to become a teacher
myself is because throughout my whole academic life I never felt like a
teacher would notice if I was missing. I always felt invisible in most of
my classes, which is why I never want any of my future students feeling
the same way I did.
Future Goals

 Graduate CSN with an Associates Degree in

Secondary Education.
 Transfer to NSC and graduate with a Bachelors
Degree in Secondary Education.
 Become a High School English Teacher.
 Buy a farm and adopt more animals.
Thank You!
