Introduction of AMUL
O Amul is a co-operative Indian diary based at
Anand,Gujarat,India .
O Amul was founded and registered on 1
december,1946
O As a response to the exploitation of marginal
milk producers by traders or agents of the only
existing dairy, the Polson dairy, in the small
city distances to deliver milk, which often
went sour in summer.
O The word Amul is derived from the
Sanskrit word amulya meaning rare and
valuable.
O It is a brand managed by a cooperative body,
the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing
Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is
jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in
Gujarat.

O Gets fresh milk from almost 3.6 million farmers
everyday directly from their farms without
disturbing the agro system of the farmers.
O Amul appointed Sylvester Dacunha for its ad
caimpaign on current affairs
O White revolution helped amul very much

O And another thing is the three tier system
Three tier system
O This structure consists of a dairy cooperative
society at the village level affiliated to a milk
union at the district level which in turn is
federated into a milk federation at the state
level.
O  Milk collection is done at the village dairy
society, milk procurement and processing at
the District Milk Union and milk products
marketing at the state milk federation. 
O This patter of amul is known as 'Amul Model'
or 'Anand Pattern‘.
O This model has helped India to emerge as the
largest milk producer in the world.
