Signals

COMMENCING
THE GAME

• It is used to signal
that the game is
starting or giving
the signal to serve.

• The service judge


will swing their
right arm to the
left.
UNDUE DELAY
OF SERVE

• When undue
delays occur the
service judge will
swing their right
arm to the left to
indicate that a
player has been
penalized for
undue delay.
FEET ON THE
SERVICE LINE OR
EVEN OFF THE
GROUND
• When serving,
the server’s feet
can’t touch any
other lines of
the court and
both feet should
be firmly on the
ground.
SHUTTLE (IN)

• When the shuttle lands


inside the court, the
line’s judge gives an
indication to the player
as well as the referee
show the same.

• The line judge will just


point their right hand
at the line.
SHUTTLE (OUT)

• When the shuttle falls


outside the lines of the
court, the line’s judge
will give an indication
to the player as well
as the referee.

• The line judge will


stretch the arms out to
the side level.
RACKET VIOLATION

• If the racket is facing


up when the
shuttlecock is hit.

• The service judge will


lift up their open hand
with palm facing out
to indicate a fault due
to the racket handle
facing up.
LINE JUDGES
DOESN’T SEE

• As they were
unable to see
whether the
shuttlecock
landed in or out,
they should
cover the eyes
with their hands.
MISCONDUCT

• The proper way of


passing the
shuttlecock to your
opponent is to hand
it over.

• Misconduct happens
when a badminton
player misbehaves
on the court.
SERVICE FAULT

• The line judge


will open their
right hand and
lightly touch
the palm with
their left hand
to indicate a
service court.
SERVICE TOO HIGH

• The service
judge will
place their
right hand
horizontally
across the
ribs.
