How did the idea of presenting this proposal come up?

• At European level, many initiatives and programs, as EIT Raw Materials, are promoting a
sustainable and prosperous extractive industry through operational excellence.
• The impact of industrial accidents in the mining industry is remarkable
• Mining machinery is a critical element in the raw materials value chain.
• In Surface mining, machinery is affected by the meteorological conditions while, in
underground mining, the machinery is affected by rockslides, rock falls, dust, humidity, etc.
• Either if we are dealing with modern or tech-mature equipment, maintenance is essential to
ensure the precise performance, from the functional, environmental an safety point of view.
• Inspection and maintenance programs for mining machinery only cover functional features just
test the functional conditions of the machinery, not taking into account employee safety.

SAFEME4MINE PROJECT

• SAFEME4MINE Project was funded by EIR Raw materials.

• Started at January 2020 and will be finished at the end of year 2021

EIT Raw Materials

EIT RawMaterials, initiated and funded by the EIT (European

Institute of Innovation and Technology), a body of the
European Union, is the largest consortium in the raw
materials sector worldwide. Its vision is to develop raw
materials into a major strength for Europe. Its mission is to
enable sustainable competitiveness of the European
minerals, metals and materials sector along the value chain
by driving innovation, education and entrepreneurship.

Supported by:
EIT Raw Materials

• As partnership organization, the focus on continuously strengthening EIT

Raw Materials Innovation Community by networking and collaborating
with various stakeholders.
• More than 120 core and associate partners and over 190 Project partners
of leading businesses, universities and research & technology
organizations from over 20 EU countries.
• Different partners levels: Core partner, Associate Partner, Project partner.
• Become a partner: www.eitrawmaterials.eu
• Upscaling, Education and RIS projects.
• Proposals that will generated a significant impact on European industrial
competitiveness, innovation capacity and human capital, as well as
empower students and entrepreneurs driving towards the circular
economy and the contributions towards the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals.

What are the advantages of using SAFEME4MINE?

• Reduces the accident rate associated with mining machinery with

specific preventive maintenance of safety elements.
• It extends the lifespan of the machinery in optimal safety
conditions, improving the circular economy and reducing the
environmental impact
• Allows inspection of the machinery on site during the work,
minimizing downtime.
• It can be used for any machinery type, new or used, as well as any
commercial brand.

Why use SAFEME4MINE?

• Conventional preventive maintenance

systems aim to guarantee the machinery
functionality, not including, in most cases,
the safety elements. The objective of
SAFEME4MINE is the specific maintenance
of the safety elements of the machinery,
being, therefore, the perfect complement
to conventional preventive maintenance
systems.
• SAFEME4MINE incorporates safety
elements into the maintenance strategy.

How much does SAFEME4MINE cost?

• The SAFEME4MINE product is

commercialized at different prices
depending on the number of product users
and the extra required services to the basic
package.
• These services include additional tools,
specific training and coaching, technical
support, etc. Please, contact us for a
SAFEME4MINE budget, customized to your
needs and requirements.
