Kinds of questions

• There are 8 kind of questions in English.


• 1:WH question: It begins with one of the wh words and it
needs complete answer means that it cannot be answered
with(yes/no).
• WH words such as what ,where ,why ,whose ,whom ,when
,who ,which ,how and etc.
• Ie: where do you want o go? When will you go to USA?
• Whom do you sent a bunch of flower? What is your name?
• 2:YES/NO question: This kind of question begins with any kind
of auxiliary verbs and answers with yes/no means that it
does”t need complete answer.
Kinds of questions
• Ie: Am I a student? Are you happy? Does she live in PK?
• 3:Tag question: it is also called “tail, mini, short and question
tag . This kind of question is used at the end of a statement to
get confirmation about what we are not sure .
• A comma is compulsory between the statement and Q.T.
• The first letter of TQ should be small (lower case).
• Positive statement requirs negative tag and negative requirs
positive.
• Ie: she can”t cook meatball, can she?
• He is not in the class, is he?
Kinds of questions
• 4:Embeded question: it is also called(included,indirect,formal)
question.This kind of question is used indirectly or formally.
• It is made of just 2 kinds of question(WH and YES/NO).
• To make one of the following inductory marker is used.
• 1:Could you tell me? 2:can you tell me? 3:May I know?
• 4:who knows? 5:Do you remember?
• Steps to change WH questions.
• 1:WH words remains unchanged.
• 2:WH question is changed into question.
• 3:A question mark is used at the end.
• 4:one of the inductory marker is used at the beginning.

• Ie: when did they arrive?
• Could you tell me when they arrived?
• Why don”t you go to scholl?
• May I know why you don”t go to school?
• How was the test? Who knows how the test was?
• Where do you live?
• Do you remember where you live?
