Definition:
We all know to what is unemployment ????? The term
- unemployment refers to a situation when a person who is
actively searching for employment is unable to find work.
Main types of
unemployment:

1) Frictional unemployment
2) Seasonal unemployment
3) Cyclical unemployment
4) Technological unemployment
5) Educated unemployment
6) Semi unemployment
1)Frictional
unemployment :
 Frictional unemployment refers to those workers who are in between
jobs. It is a result of inperfect in the labour market, because if job
seekers knew that they would be employed for a particular job vacancy.
Ex; Unsatisfied with the job profile, worker quitting jobs to look for
better opportunities.

2)Seasonal unemployment :

 Seasonal unemployment means the demand for a specific kind of


work
and workers change with the change in the change in the season.
Ex; In Winter we needed sweater , In Monsoon we needed
raincoat.
3)Cyclical
unemployment:
 Cyclical unemployment is the main cause of high unemployment
rates. It’s part of the natural rise and fall of economic growth that
occurs over time.
 Cyclical unemployment is temporary and depends on the length of
economics contraction caused by recession.
 Ex; When an automobiles worker is laid off during a recessions to
cut labor cost or left him ,due the downturn , people are buying
fewer vehicles , so the manufacturer does not need as many
workers to meet the demand…..so its create the cyclical
unemployment
