What rights do you have?

employer have?
The Employer MUST abide by all law related to the protection and compensation of workers.
Additionally, they must provide an environment that is clean, and free of harassment/bullying (From
customers, other workers, and managers)
Why protect employee rights?
Employees are people, and deserve to be treated safely.

Additionally, a workplace that correctly respects employee rights will be far more desirable than one
that doesn’t

Finally, if an employer doesn’t abide by laws and regulations can be shut down, and have their assets
seized
Where can you seek help?
Employees can seek assistance from Worksafe Australia, and Fair Work Ombudsman, or with a union.
Unions are a group of people employed in the same industry that work together to secure better
working conditions for employees.

The best union for Retail employees is the RAFFWU, the Retail And Fast Food Workers Union
Why is tax detucted?
Tax is deducted to pay for all public works (Like the Sky Rail program), the Australian Defence Force,
Social Security (Centrelink) and healthcare (Paying doctors and nurses, and building new hospitals and
clinics.
