Pre Employment Functional Asssessments
Predict WMSDs
• an evaluation of an individual's physical capacity to safely perform the demands
of a certain job (A tool that may assist in reducing the severity and cost of
WMSDS)
• Sistem Job Fit

• 5 basics criteria for PEFAs :
• Safety : is the test safe to administer ?
• Reliability : Are the test results reproducible on any occasion between evaluators (inter-rater)
and participants (test-retest)?
• Validity : Does the measure what it reports to measure and is it predictive of performance ?
• Practicality : is the test easy to administer with reasonable/ minimal cost ?
• Utility : Does the functional test relate to job performance and does it meet the needs of the
involved parties?
• Validity
• For functional task
• Not for exclude but place them into suited job
• Design of PEFAs typically consist of the following activities:
• Physical &musculoskeletal screen (Blood Pressure, restricted movement, trunk mobility, muscle strength –
isometric &isokinetic –lifting capability RoM)
• Fitness test (aerobic capacity yg disesuaikan dg task requirements meliputi 3 item Cardiovascular +1 item
isometric back+1 leg strength &flexibility)
• Postural tolerances and dynamic activities (reaching forward, squatting, stooping, climbing, walking, balancing)
• Manual handling task (floor to bench lift, bench to shoulder lift, bench to overhead lift, bilateral carry)
