The Noun
English nouns can be masculine, feminine or neuter (those referring to inanimate objects).

However, their gender does not affect either the article or the adjective that may accompany them, since they do
not vary in form.

Example: The red car – The red cars.

On the other hand, the gender of the noun must be taken into account when substituting it for a personal pronoun:

■ The girl is nice – She is nice;

■ The boy is nice – He is nice;

■ The lamp is nice – It is nice.


Countable nouns have

When we refer to singular countable nouns,
they can be preceded by the indefinite

countable nouns
