Three scenarios why GIN/OCN need it
 Case1. Private Peering

 Case2. Utilize existing 10G link for the bandwidth expansion of

GIN/OCN backbone

 Case3. New deployment of 100Gbps+ link

1. Private Peering
Private Peering
- NTT Plala
GIN/OCN - NTT PC
backbone - etc..
Internet eXchange
100G*2 LAG

• In the case 100Gbps+ bandwidth is required (like 120Gbps) for

the Private peering, there is a very big GAP if they add one more
100G link as a 100Gx2 Link Bundle.

100G+10G*N LAG

• OCN want to add “mixed speed bundle menu” in their service to

the end-user.
• Private user can optimize their investment for the bandwidth.

2. Utilize existing 10G link for the bandwidth
GIN/OCN backbone
10G*10 LAG

• In the case they want to expand bandwidth in their backbone

network, they want to utilize existing 10G link.
• For example, backbone in above picture has 100Gbps capability.

• In the case they want to add more 100Gbps, they have to add
new 2x100G link(removing existing 10G LAG) or additional
10x10G link without new feature.
• Also 10G transport device cannot be removed easily. (lifetime of
transport device is longer than routers.)

2. Utilize existing 10G link for the bandwidth
GIN/OCN backbone

10G*10+100G LAG

• They want to utilize existing 10G link like above picture.

3. New deployment of 100Gbps+ link
GIN/OCN backbone

100G*2 LAG

• In the case 100Gbps+ link is required (like 120Gbps) in their

backbone for the new deployment, they have to use 2x100G
without this feature.

3. New deployment of 100Gbps+ link
GIN/OCN backbone

100G+10G*2 LAG

• They want to add 10G link little by little and optimize the
investment.

etc
• Customer knows CRS support this feature(CSCtn12367), so they
think this can be implemented in ASR9K too.
• If this feature is supported, Cisco can get in to peer router
market because no other vendor can do this.
