INTRODUCTION

HISTORY:
• Vernier calliper was invented in 1631 by French mathematician Pierre
Vernier.
• The Vernier calliper is used to take measurements that are accurate to
within 0.001 of an inch or 0.02 of a millimeter.

ERRORS:
ZERO ERROR: Vernier scale 0 and main scale 0 met each other.
POSITIVE ERROR: Vernier scale 0 is after main scale (Correct reading = actual reading - error).
NEGATIVE ERROR: Vernier scale 0 is before main scale (Correct reading = actual reading + error).

CONCLUSION:

 These are use for making measurements that are accurate to a hundredth of a millimeter.
 It can be used to measure internal as well as external dimensions, and depths of features like steps
and blind holes, in small components.
 The advantage to using a vernier calliper is that the measurement is going to be more accurate.
Rulers and tape measures are not accurate enough when a precise measurement required.
