Penicillin

Ecaterina Turlea
Penicillin
One of the biggest medicinal
breakthroughs in history came
about entirely by accident.
In 1928 Sir Alexander Fleming
interrupted his experimentation
with the influenza virus for a
two week holiday and when he
returned he found that a mould
had started to grow and kill the
virus
He found that the
mould produced a
bacteria-killing
chemical --
penicillin
to treat certain infections caused by bacteria
Now, penicillin such as pneumonia and other respiratory tract
is used infections, scarlet fever, and ear, skin, gum,
mouth, and throat infections.
