Fuel Injection System

 fuel injection, in an internal combustion engine is the

introduction of fuel into the cylinders by means of a pump
rather than by the usual suction created by the movement
of the pistons.

 Fuel injection into a chamber upstream from the cylinders

distributes the fuel evenly to the individual cylinders
compared to a carburetor system; more power can be
developed and undesirable emissions are reduced.
The Different Types of Fuel Injection in SI Engine

1. Single-point fuel injection

2. Multi-point fuel injection

3. Continuous fuel injection

4. Timed fuel injection

5. Direct fuel injection

Single-point fuel injection

 simplest type of fuel injection

 stepping stone to the more complex multipoint system.

 Less expensive

 Easier to service
Cont.
Multi-point fuel injection

 separate injector

 more precise than Single point fuel injection system

 Granting design flexibility.

Multi-point fuel injection
Continuous fuel injection

 Continuous fuel injection

 Control of Fuel flow.

 Boost the Engine Idle Speed.

 Richer Mixture

 Rise of Throttle Response

Continuous fuel injection
Timed fuel injection

 Short coming of Multi-point fuel injection system

 Solution of the short coming

Direct fuel injection

 More Precise

 Easier cold starts

 Better fuel economy and lower

emissions
