PANDEMIC

 Students’ ability to learn is as much affected by their
inter-and intrapersonal behavior as it is by their
academic skills.
 In a classroom environment, teachers can employ
practices to manage students’ day-to-day behavior.
 But many parents and caregivers may find behavior
management challenging while adjusting to virtual or
at-home education.
 This can be especially difficult as many children deal
with emotional challenges –like increased anxiety or
stress –as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic
 Expectations for classroom conduct and social
interaction are learned and can be taught using proven
principles of behavior and effective classroom
instruction.

 Effective classroom management is based on

 (a) setting and communicating high expectations,
 (b) consistently nurturing positive relationships, and
 (c) providing a high level of student support.
 use praise and rewards strategically and

problem-solving, and responsible behavior.
 Provide multiple opportunities to apply
social, emotional, and moral abilities.
 Use disciplinary encounters as teachable
moments to develop self-discipline.
 Practice
social and emotional skills
throughout the day/week.

 Treat misbehavior as an ask for help.

 Treat misbehavior as a learning opportunity.
