OBJECTIVES

• To reduce the pandemic-generated waste by recycling single use face

masks into pavement block.
• To increase the strength of paver block.
• To reduce the cost of paverblock

3
METHODOLOGY
● The material used is disinfected shredded PPE facemask replacing cement in
paving block.
● PPE waste must be kept untouched for 72 hours before disposal.
● Coarse aggregate of size 12.5mm,10mm and 6.25mm fine aggregate as M-
sand and water selected is of drinking quality
● The optimized mix design is obtained by packing density method
● In this bulk density of raw materials is calculated for different proportions
and the proportion with maximum bulk density, impressive strength, flexural
strength and maximum abrasive resistance is selected for mix design.

4
METHODOLOGY
● The blocks are also subjected to water absorption test, oven and acid test.
● The shredded PPE facemask, coarse aggregates, fine aggregates are added in
right proportions and well mixed.
● The mixture is placed in the mould and the Compaction is done to reduce
internal pores present in it.
● The blocks are allowed to dry for 24 hours so that they harden and after
drying, the paver blocks are removed from mould and ready to use.

5
SCHEDULE
● Collection of disposed mask - 10 Days
● Storing before shredding- 3Days
● Disinfection using H2O2 - 3 Days
● Shredding- 5Day
● For test Purposes -80Days
