Geographical Characteristics

The UK is an island country


located on the northwest coast
of the European mainland. It
covers the entire island of Great
Britain, including England,
Wales, and Scotland, and the
northern part of the Irish island.

Economical Characteristics

• The UK has a completely independent, developed, and international trade economy


that is at the forefront of the 19th century Industrial Revolution.
• Victory from World War II, but with a weakened manufacturing sector. The post-war
recovery was relatively slow, and after 1973 it took about 40 years with the
additional stimulation of membership in the European Economic Community to
significantly increase its competitiveness to the European economy.

Political Characteristics

• Britain has a constitutional monarchic system and parliamentary democracy. The


country's president is the ruler king or queen, and the head of government is the
prime minister, the leader of the majority political party in the House of Commons.

Educational Characteristics

• Education in the UK is a matter where each of the united states has separate
systems under separate governments: the Government of England is
responsible for England; The Scottish Government, the Government of Wales,
and the Manager of Northern Ireland are responsible for Scotland, Wales and
Northern Ireland, respectively.

• There are five stages of education in each country: primary years, primary
education, secondary education, further education, and higher education. The
law states that full-time education is compulsory for 5-year-olds
